Experience

Tess has over 13 years post-qualification experience gained both in private practice and in house, specialising in commercial law and intellectual property law.  Her in house experience provides her with a broad background across a number of specialist areas, including data protection, regulatory/compliance work (e.g. anti bribery compliance, website compliance), and M&A. Her private practice experience is similarly extensive and she has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands in the entertainment, publishing and automotive industries, including Lucasfilm, Paramount Pictures, National Trust, Cosmopolitan, Mercedes Benz, and Jeep.

Tess’s practice includes providing advice on and negotiating deals and agreements, as well as drafting templates and reviewing and updating clients’ existing documents. She has worked on a wide range of agreements, including software development and maintenance, content licensing, merchandising agreements, publishing agreements, sponsorship deals, joint ventures and confidentiality agreements, to name but a few. She has also dealt with a number of disposals and acquisitions, both pre- and post- disposal/acquisition, from heads of terms and due diligence through to disclosure letters, assignments and novation agreements.
